Leisure and excursion tips around the Wyndham Stralsund HanseDom

Although HanseDom water park is probably the main reason for your visit, there is much more awaiting you in Stralsund. It is not without reason that the Hanseatic city was declared UNESCO World Heritage. Tradition and modernity harmoniously melt together in the picturesque alleys where, next to the many museums, beautiful terraces invite you to linger and soak up the maritime flair. There are countless opportunities to learn more about the Baltic Sea and its inhabitants - from the former sailing school ship Gorch Fock to the OZEANEUM and the Oceanographic Museum (Meeresmuseum). Extensive cycling and hiking path around Stralsund invite to explore the breathtaking nature of Northern Germany.

A maritime flair, untouched nature and a vast cultural offer can not only be found in Stralsund, but also on the surrounding islands like Rügen or Hiddensee and, of course, in the many small towns that spread alongside the Baltic Sea coast.

Stralsund is known as the gate to the popular tourist destination Rügen - the island is only 5 km away from the Hanseatic town. The Wyndham Hotel Stralsund HanseDom is quietly located at the outskirts of the city, only a few metres away from Stralsund Zoo.
 
The federal highway B96 offers quick motorway access. Both the ferry port and the main railway station in Stralsund are only 3 km away from the hotel.

Historic city centre, islands and the oceans

Stralsund's historic centre is a listed World Heritage site and is only five kilometres from the hotel: Its town houses, the brickwork St. Nicholas and St. Mary churches, and the narrow gable buildings from the Hanseatic era attract many visitors.
 
It is a 12 minute drive to the famous Ozeaneum Oceanic Museum, the municipal forest and zoo are within walking distance. Hiddensee and Rügen, two very popular holiday destinations with sandy beaches, can be reached within 90 and 20 minutes.
